Kindle is coming with a new feature that will now let you listen to your books. Amazon is planning to integrate Audible, its digital audiobooks store, on its cheapest e-reader. Audible is owned by Amazon and brings digital audiobooks, audio versions of magazines and books on the device.
On the description page of its entry-level Kindle, priced at $80, Amazon has mentioned that Audible will be available in the coming months. Since the entry-level Kindle does not have an audio jack, Amazon states that the Kindle can be paired with Bluetooth to listen to the stories on the Audible.
The update to support Audible will be provided via a free over-the-air update in coming months. New subscribers on Audible will get two free audiobooks.
The Amazon Kindle features a 6-inch glare-free screen and comes with 4 GB of internal storage. It has 167 PPI resolution and also supports Wi-Fi.
Amazon recently announced an all-new Kindle app with new icons, fonts and theme in the update. New features in the Kindle app include large book covers, new fonts, a new app icon and new light and dark background themes.
The tech giant has also brought a new waterproof version of the Kindle Oasis. The new Kindle Oasis now comes with a 7-inch screen, highest resolution paper-white display compared to other Kindle devices and fast charging option that can charge the device in two hours. It has IP68 rating which provides protection in water, even if immersed for up to 60 minutes. Amazon also claims that it has 30 percent more words per page as compared to other Kindle devices.
Kindle Oasis is priced at Rs 21,999 and 28,999 for the 8 GB and 32 GB storage variant respectively. The cheapest version of the Kindle is priced at Rs 5,999 in India.
