If you own an Android or Amazon Kindle device, you can download up to 29 paid apps for free from the Amazon Appstore, thanks to a new promotional offer. The promotion has already begun and will end Saturday, August 2 at 12PM IST. Amazon released a press statement announcing it will be giving away paid apps worth over $100, for free as part of the Free App of the Day programme. These apps are also available on Google’s Play Store too, but are not free currently. It’s a move on Amazon’s part to drive up usage of its Appstore so that developers can get a leg in with users who wouldn’t pay for them otherwise. This opens up the path for future in-app purchases. Those not using a Kindle device but a regular Android phone can download the Amazon Appstore app from Play Store to get these apps for free. They should ideally run normally, but they won’t be updated if the Appstore is uninstalled. For example, the Shuttle + music player app - Amazon’s free app for today- costs Rs 55.89 on the Play Store. The bundle includes gaming, travel, utility and finance apps.
