Amazon Echo Input launched at Rs 2,999 to make your old speakers Alexa enabled

The Amazon Echo Input can be used to to make your existing speakers Alexa enabled.

Last year in September, Amazon had introduced a bunch of new Echo speakers and related gadgets and one of them was the Echo Input – a device for users who want to make their existing speakers Alexa enabled.

The Echo Input has now been introduced in India. Amazon launched the device today, on 17 January and it is already up for sale on the etailer's India website. The device has been priced at Rs 2,999.

The functionality of the Input is simple: to enable a user to add Alexa voice control and audio streaming to any of their old speakers.

You will be able to add Alexa to your existing speaker by connecting to the speaker through a 3.5 mm audio cable or Bluetooth.

This is not very different from the Echo Dot, the only difference is that the Echo Input does not have a built-in speaker, which the former does. All audio is played through the connected speaker rather than through Echo Input itself.

The device is available in a single black colour.

The device appears to show promise, considering that it is cheaper than the Echo Dot (Rs 4,499) or the Amazon Echo Smart Speaker (Rs 9,999) and if you're someone who has an old speaker at home and want to convert it into a smart speaker and be able to do things like controlling the volume with your voice, this might be a good option.
