Amazon has now announced that it is dropping the price of its 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet in India. While the 16GB version will now set users back Rs 11,999, the 32GB variant will cost users Rs 15,999. Both the 16GB and the 32GB variants were earlier priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 18,999 respectively.
Looking at the specifications sheet, the Kindle Fire HD comes with an HD LCD multi-touch screen with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 800. The device measures 193 x 137 x 10.3 mm and weighs in at 395 grams. Internally, the tablet comes with a dual-core OMAP 4460 processor clocked at 1.2GHz as well as 1GB of RAM. The tablet also sports dual stereo speakers as well as a 3.5mm audio connector. In terms of connectivity, the tablet comes with all the usual suspects like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n as well as a USB port.

The tablet comes with a customised version of Android 4.0 OS as well as all the usual sensors like an accelerometer. On the camera front, the tablet comes with a 1.3-megapixel primary camera. The tablet rounds up the offering with a Li-Ion battery that is said to give up to 10 hours of battery life. The Kindle Fire HD is currently available in a black avatar. Some of the other features the company has packed in with the tablet are e-mail services like Gmail and Hotmail, a calendar as well as contacts for work or home. The tablet also comes with web browsing supported via the dual-band Wi-Fi connection.
While Amazon has currently lowered the price of its current line-up, there has been quite a lot of information doing the rounds about a new line-up of revamped Amazon tablets coming. There is still no word about a possible announcement date yet. The company is reportedly planning to revamp its 7-inch Fire HD model as well as the larger Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet.
