Alleged Nokia P1 Android smartphone press renders leaked

A press render has appeared which is said to be a Nokia branded Android smartphone called the Nokia P1

Nokia paved the way for smartphones and eventually it was laid to rest by Microsoft after it made some bad choices with Windows Phone. However we have been hearing every now and then that the mobile giant, well at least the brand name, is going to make a comeback with Android powered smartphones.

Just a couple of months back Nokia sent out an official statement saying that thanks to some deals the company will be allowed to license its name for use on Android powered smartphones and tablets. Foxconn and HMD were the two companies involved in this deal, yes the same Foxconn which manufactures Apple’s iPhones.

Now a press render has appeared which is said to be a Nokia branded Android smartphone called the Nokia P1. According to reports, the handset is being made by engineers at InFocus/Sharp since Foxconn purchased Sharp earlier this year. The leaked press render shows a blue and pink coloured handset which could be the same handset as the Sharp Aquos P1. Sharp doesn’t sell a lot of handsets outside of Japan so this could be a way to increase its distribution.

For those who are interested the Sharp Aquos P1 was announced recently featuring Snapdragon 820 processor, a 5.3-inch FHD resolution IGZO panel, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 22.6MP primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture, a 3,000mAh battery, IP58 dust-proof body of water repellent, and fast-charge support.

Update: According to another source, the alleged press render is not legit and it is indeed an edited image of the Sharp Aquos P1 itself. But let's not get our hopes down, maybe Nokia has bigger plan under its sleeves?
