Mobile gaming has just gotten a new addition to its arsenal of devices with the recent launch of the GAME-YO mobile handset from Airfone. Following in the footsteps of Spice’s offering that was way back in 2008, i.e. the Spice X-1 , Airfone intends to capture the youth-gamer segment looking for low budget handsets that also serve as portable gaming solutions.

Using a ‘gamepad’ attachment identical to what Spice offered almost 3 years ago, Airfone’s GAME-YO allows you to play like Mario, Contra and many other old school games we used to play on our TVs. Thanks to a built in emulator, the handset can be fitted into the controller attachment and you can start playing. Games can be downloaded and stored on the microSD card negating the need to download any while on the go. The GAME-YO in all has a list of 1650 different types of games. The handset features -

  • a 2.4-inch display
  • Dual SIM capabilities (GSM + GSM)
  • GPRS/WAP
  • Bluetooth
  • FM radio and MP3 player
  • MicroSD card support with a 4GB card (with games preinstalled) provided

A few of the additional features provided include things like auto call recording and an SMS/Call blacklist

The Airfone GAME –YO is being launched in two different color options - Red or Black with a Silver background and will be priced at Rs. 2500 which seems quite reasonable considering the game pad controller attachment and 4GB car dwith preloaded games is part of the bundle.
