Well, well. Looks like Nokia has finally found its funny bone after selling off its services and devices division to Microsoft. With money in the coffers and not a worry in its mind, Nokia has taken to Twitter with a vengeance to try and poke fun at as many tech competitors as it can.
While it took a massive dig at Google and Samsung over KitKat a couple of days ago, Nokia has tried to heckle Sony now. The Finnish company referred to Sony’s new line of camera lenses in this supposedly funny tweet.
The tweet that came from the official Nokia account read, “The perfect match?” and contained a picture of a DSLR camera lens stuck to a Nokia Lumia 1020. To top it off, Nokia used a hashtag that read “#Trolololol” that will make anyone who’s read enough rage comics cringe. While Nokia might want to display its superiority as far as camera lenses are concerned, surely it could have found a funnier way.
The Cybershot DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lenses released by Sony at the IFA 2013 at Berlin are supposed to be new camera accessories that you can attach to your smartphone and take better pictures. Incidentally, while the camera lenses are compatible with Android and iOS, they aren’t with Windows Phone just yet. Could this be the cause of the tweet? We can only wonder.
Microsoft has always had a bit of a funny take when it came to taking a potshot at rivals. Even its not-so-funny attempts like the “Smoked by Windows Phone” campaign that pit rival smartphones against Nokia and HTC-built Windows Phones were fun to watch. Looks like Microsoft’s funny has rubbed off on Nokia too. Is Apple on the radar next?
