Adult website Pornhub to offer 'realistic' VR videos for free: Report

Virtual reality (VR) has captured the fancy of many. Cashing in on the opportunity, adult website Pornhub is adding a new dimension to its videos with VR. Pornhub has partnered with VR porn store BaDoink to offer more realistic videos. As this report notes, the adoption of VR by the porn industry can give the technology the momentum is needs to gain mainstream appeal. Samsung, HTC, Sony, Facebook’s Oculus and other tech companies are making headsets, but the consumers are still on the fence and can’t seem to be making the decision to just go out and buy one. Calling porn’s adoption of virtual reality a technological game changer, the CNET report notes that Americans’ love for XXX entertainment fueled the early adoption of VHS players in the 1980s and cable television in the 1990s. Maybe VR could go down the same road. “After decades of kicks and starts, virtual reality is finally hitting its stride,” believes Todd Glider, chief executive of BaDoinkVR. India can be a key market for this content and technology. Just last year, India knocked out Canada to grab the third position, after the US and Britain, in visiting Pornhub. In its annual review of how people around the world watch porn, Pornhub found that while the US added 11 seconds to their average time spent on watching porn, India – at 9 minutes 30 seconds – recorded a higher average time with a one-minute increase in the duration of each visit.
