Adobe bundles Lightroom with Photoshop CC in a $9.99 package aimed at photographers

Ever since Adobe shifted to a subscription-only model earlier this year, loyal users and photographers alike have been outraged at the idea of paying about $20 a month to use Photoshop Creative Cloud. The company seems to have paid heed to popular opinion and has introduced a new “photography programme” package aimed at the shutterbugs.

Aiming to bundle applications and tools that could be most important to photographers, Adobe, during the company’s keynote at the Photoshop World Conference at Las Vegas on Wednesday announced the package. Along with Photoshop Creative Cloud, the bundle will see Adobe Lightroom thrown in as well as a Behance Membership with Prosite and 20GB of cloud storage. The package will cost half of the current going rate – $9.99.

The package will also consist of access to Creative Cloud Learn’s training resources and will let users be a part of ongoing upgrades and updates. The best bit about this package is that it isn’t an “introductory offer”. You will be able to benefit from this package if you sign up for it by December 31, 2013. The offer will start to roll out as the new version of Lightroom 5.2 becomes available “in a couple weeks”.

If you’re already part of the group that is shelling out $20 a month in order to subscribe to Photoshop CC, don’t worry, you’ll automatically be put on to the cheaper plan. While this is a welcome change that photographers will love, it would make a lot of sense for Adobe to introduce a fixed rate deal where users can choose the software they want for a monthly fee. Hopefully, Adobe will be open to such ideas too.
