Activision unveils official system requirements for Call of Duty: Ghosts

While Nvidia had already revealed some requirements for the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts, Activision came forward and called them “unofficial”. The company has now unveiled the official list of requirements for the PC version of Ghosts on its blog , and while the game doesn’t seem to be as demanding on the GPU and HDD side of things, the requirements are still more or less the same.

Here are the requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHz or better
  • Memory: 6GB RAM
  • Hard Disk Space: 40GB
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
  • Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible 16-bit sound card
  • Internet: Broadband Internet connection for Steam and Online Multiplayer

As we pointed out earlier, the most notable things about these requirements are the memory requirements: 6GB of RAM and 40GB of HDD space. Both of these probably tie in to some kind of new texturing technology that Activision is employing. Nvidia has been quite vocal about bringing 4K gaming to the mainstream, and has gone on to name Call of Duty: Ghosts as among the games that will support it. At such a high resolution, the in-game textures will have to be much higher than they currently are.

Activision has called the PC version of the Ghosts “one of the best Call of Duty experiences ever.” The game is set to hit stores on November 5 and will see a simultaneous release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Next-gen consoles will also be getting the game as a launch title.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
