 "Activision is looking for ways to bring back Crash Bandicoot franchise")
Despite having removed all references to PlayStation-era franchise Crash Bandicoot from its website, as discovered by Reddit user Cocobandicoot , Activision doesn’t seem to be done with the franchise just yet. The company told Game Informer that it still owns the franchise and is looking for ways to resurrect it.
“Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life,” a representative told Game Informer. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing the company say it wants to bring Crash Bandicoot back. Activision boss Eric Hirshberg told Kotaku back in 2011 that he would “love to find a way to bring him back, if we could.”

The Crash Bandicoot franchise was the brainchild of Naughty Dog’s Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin. It was originally meant to be exclusive to the PlayStation, making the plucky bandicoot a direct competitor to other gaming mascots like Mario and Sonic. Last time we counted, the franchise has had 18 games released across different platforms, including mobiles, handhelds and current-gen consoles.
Crash Bandicoot is a genetically enhanced marsupial and failed experiment of Dr N Cortex—mad scientist and supposed conqueror of the world. As the games went by, the cast of characters got larger. The games have belonged to quite a few genres, including 3D platforming, kart racing, party games and more kart racing. There have been a lot of kart racing games in the series. The last game in the series was Crash Nitro Kart 2 back in 2010. It was a Java-based racing game for mobiles.
