Activision Blizzard announced that they’ve completed the acquisition of King Digital, the makers of Candy Crush Saga for $5.9 billion. With the completed acquisition, Activision Blizzard now commands a staggering user base of 500 million gamers, making it the “largest gaming network in the world.” The numbers are understandable when you consider that the company now owns and operates some of the largest gaming franchises in existence today. These include Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and more. To put these numbers in perspective, Steam has 125 million active users, World of Tanks has 75 million registered users and League of Legends has around 67 million active users. Though it’s now a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, King Digital will operate independently under its current CEO, COO and Chief Creative Officer.
