Hot on the heels of Sony’s expected releases comes Acer. The company which has revitalized itself in the last year or so is releasing a slew of laptops in all ranges from 14 inches to 20 inches. They are going to be launching 7 new laptop notebooks based on Penryn processors. These will be Acer TravelMate 6492 and 6592G, Acer Aspire 2920, 4920, 5920, 7720 and 9920.
The Acer 6492 is a business laptop that will come with an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100, 2.1 GHz, 3MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB, 2 GB Of main Memory, 80 GB SATA HDD and DVD Super Multi DL Optical drive. Its LCD panel will be a 14.1" WXGA (1280 x 800) TFT display and its graphics will be powered by an integrated Intel GMA X3100.
The Acer Aspire series which come under the Gemstone branding, will be commonly equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 or Intel Core 2 Duo T8300processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics supporting Direct X10, 512MB dedicated with base options of Intel X3100, from 2GB to 4GB of RAM Memory, from 250GB HDD up to 500 GB (2 x 250 GB) SATA HDD, and DVD Super Multi DL optical drives.
Among these the 2920 will be an ultra-portable 12.1 inch machine intended for power users and people looking for mid-form mobile computing. The 5920 on the other hand will be an out and out gaming laptop, with high-end processors and a choice of Nvdia graphic processors.
