Acer Slows Down Tablet Production

A report by Reuters states that Acer has decided to cut down on tablet production after failing to meet targets. Acer had set a target of some 5 to 7 million units earlier in the year. Acer missed those predicted targets by a huge margin. The actual sales were closer to 2.5 - 3 million units instead.

Things not progressing as per plan

Acer has seen some rough times recently as last CEO, Gianfranco Liani quit in March following the failure to attack the tablet threat effectively. Chairman J.T. Wang has said that the next quarter should be as good as the second quarter or maybe, even better. Acer expects sales to be roughly 8,00,000 units at the end of the second and third quarter. The company has also seen a drop of 29.2 per cent in total sales.
