When we reviewed Acer’s Honeycomb tablet - the Iconia Tab A500 , we were left impressed with the hardware. But despite the top-notch specifications which gave the A500 all the necessary ingredients to topple the iPad 2, one of the biggest disappointment was Honeycomb. The Iconia Tab A500 needed an upgrade to Honeycomb 3.1. And that’s exactly what it will be getting, well at least in Germany.

The Honeycomb just got sweeter
The Acer Germany team has announced on Facebook that the tablet will be getting a Honeycomb 3.1 update. Users can update their Iconia Tabs over the air and the update will roll out from July 5th. So that definitely is good news. Not only for the Iconia Tab users, but also for Acer. After all, if the OS does justice to the powerful hardware that the A500 boasts of, it is a good thing, right?
Now all that’s remaining is that the update should be made available for the users in India. While there’s no mention of updates rolling out in other countries, we logically expect it to go global ASAP. Does that give you a good enough reason to buy the Acer Iconia Tab A500?
