Acer today announced its first phablet device, ahead of the Computex 2013 in Taiwan. The phablet comes with a 5.7-inch screen and is called the Acer Liquid S1.

Acer today announced its first phablet device, ahead of the Computex 2013 in Taiwan. The phablet comes with a 5.7-inch screen and is called the Acer Liquid S1.

Key features of the device include: a 5.7-inch screen with 1280 x 720 screen resolution. The device will be available in single and dual SIM versions. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, has a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, and a day’s worth of battery power according to Acer.

The S1 also has an 8-megapixel camera, with 1080p video recording capability. The front-facing camera is 2-megapixels. The device supports 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Acer Float User Interface which lets users openseveral app windows for better multitasking.

The optional digital pen which comes with two buttons: one to launch the Float Notes app, and another to toggle between write and erase modes during note taking.

Voice Unlock directly opens apps or interfaces by recording and using personal voice commands.

Voice Shot allows hands-free photo taking just by saying “cheese!”

The Acer Liquid S1 will be available in matte black or white. It will start shipping in Q3 odf 2013.
