Acer has announced two 2-in-1 devices that are budget-friendly and aimed squarely at students. The devices, dubbed the Switch V10 and the Switch One 10, feature 10 inch IPS displays and are powered by Intel’s latest generation Atom chips.

When Acer calls them 2-in-1 devices, they mean that the devices can work as both, tablets and laptops, much like Microsoft’s Surface line-up of devices. An Acer Snap Hinge uses magnets to align the keyboard with the tablet and transform the device. The magnetic hinge also means that you can use the device in tent and display mode as well.

In terms of hardware, the devices will be powered by Intel Atom chips, offer 32GB or 64GB of storage and will feature up to 500GB of additional storage in the detachable dock. The devices will offer between 8 and 9 hours of battery life as well, which should hopefully be enough to get a student through a day of work.

Connectivity is provided by WiFi 802.11ac and two USB Type-A ports. The Switch One 10 will also offer a fingerprint sensor. Acer says that the devices will be offered in Pearl White, Shale Black, Coral Red, Peacock Blue and NavyBlue colours.

The Switch V10 will retail for $249 (around Rs 17,000) and the Switch One 10 will retail for $199 (around Rs 14,000) in the US.
