Acer announces Aspire S Series Ultrabooks, AIO PC at Computex Taipei

Acer has announced the launch of a range of Ultrabooks and an all-in-one (AIO) PC at the ongoing Computex Taipei. The new Ultrabooks to hit the market will be the enhanced flagship Aspire S7 and the 1.3-inch Aspire S3. The company has also announced the launch of the Aspire Z3 AIO with a 23-inch 10-point display.

The refreshed S7 Ultrabook comes equipped with wireless display (WiDi) technology that allows users to extend their laptop screen to a TV or a bigger screen without the need of a cable. It sports an improved battery life of up to 7 hours – a 33 percent increase from the earlier version. The Ultrabook has an all-new light-sensing electroluminescent (EL) backlit keyboard and 2nd generation Acer TwinAir cooling technology that keeps the noise at maximum load 20 percent lower than the previous S7.

The Aspire S7-392 features a full HD IPS 10-point touchscreen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The IPS technology boasts of showing accurate colours at viewing angles up to 170 degrees. Taking full advantage of Windows 8’s touch benefits, the touch enabled screen of the S7 can be opened a full 180 degrees and the image orientation can be reversed with a hotkey combination. The S7 Ultrabook will also be home to Acer’s first 10-point touch WQHD display, with the IPS technology squeezing in a 2560 x 1440 resolution into the 13.3-inch screen.

Inspired by the Aspire M3, the Z3 groups the frequently used I/O ports (onscreen display button, SD card reader, USB 3.0, 2-in-1 combo audio jack) in a capsule-shaped area in front for easy access. It is powered by an Intel Core processor along with HD graphics. The Z3 contains two USB 3.0 ports for faster data transfer and flexible expansion and has an HDMI input for gaming. The AIO will also offer AcerCloud, a file sharing and media management service.
