Messaging platform Twitter took its first baby step when co-founder sent out the first tweet, “just setting up my twttr.” Today, we stand 10 years later where almost, 500 million tweets are sent out each day, adding up to some 200 billion per year.

All fans poured in on the platform to share their wishes. Here are some of the top best tweets by well-wishers across the globe.

Twitter is a company with more than 300 million active users and a microblogging sensation. It’s a company that needs no introduction. Despite all of this, Twitter’s mandatory 10-K filing shows that the company is yet to turn a profit and has apparently lost over $2 billion since the company’s inception.

CEO Jack Dorsey had also changed some of Twitter’s core features since he returned to run Twitter permanently in October last year. Twitter has added “Moments,” which allows users to easily find tweets about the day’s biggest news stories, and changed the shape of its “favorite” icon from a star to a heart. Recently, the company also introduced Fabric mobile app with real-time alerts and analytics that will help developers build and monitor their apps that use Twitter APIs and works with the Apple Watch and Android Wear as well.

It's not been an easy ride for Twitter in the past few years as many other social sharing platforms have emerged such as Instagram, Snapchat and others. Twitter went public in 2013, at that time still unprofitable, and haven’t been able to turn it around since. Speaking around the time of the IPO, Evan Williams, former Chairman and CEO of Twitter said that, “With Twitter, it wasn’t clear what it was. They called it a social network, they called it microblogging, but it was hard to define, because it didn’t replace anything.”

Twitter’s growth has been very slow and many reports have indicated on how the platform had stagnated and is unable to grow its user-base, etc. In the near future, it is indicated that Twitter is going to start work on live-streaming, cracking down on abusive accounts and improve the product to demonstrate a better value to a larger user-base.
