9mn preorders for SGS III already, reveals report

Samsung’s much-awaited and the latest addition to their ever-popular Galaxy series of devices i.e. the Galaxy S III may not be available off the shelf, at the moment, but that’s not stopping the pre-orders from coming in by the thousands. At the moment, according to news reports, the South-Korean company has already received about 9 million pre-orders for their latest Galaxy class device. Pre-orders have come in from more than 100 global carriers, the Korea Economic Daily reported. As of now, the Korean handset maker has even managed to beat Cupertino-based, Apple, as the world’s biggest smartphone maker in the first quarter of 2012. That’s not an easy task. All thanks to Google’s Android operating system.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Launching in India by the first week of June

9 Million already preordered

The Galaxy S III will be equipped with some of the latest tech to make it out of the mobile phone sector. From a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor (1GB RAM) running on Android 4.0 i.e. Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) flaunting the latest edition of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, to NFC support, the device is quite feature packed. Its 2100 mAh battery should also provide users with quite a bit of usage as well. Here’s a closer look at some of the other specs revealed:

The handset is expected to hit Germany first on May 29th and will then make its way to other sectors. We expect to see the Galaxy S III hit the Indian shore line by mid-May. Although there’s been no official statement from Samsung, the Korea Economic Daily, reported that an unidentified Samsung official, mentioned that the company’s smartphone factory in South Korea was running at its full capacity of 5 million units per month. Naturally, if the numbers are true, then Samsung could be looking at a very healthy second quarter as well, thanks to its latest flagship Galaxy model. The Galaxy S III shows tremendous potential and should the price be right, it could very well surpass its own predecessor i.e. the S II in terms of popularity. Look out iPhone 4S, here’s comes the S III.
