60,000 Xiaomi Redmi 1s units to go on sale on Flipkart today

Continuing its trend of ‘ **sale in seconds** ’, all 40,000 Redmi 1s units went off shelf in seconds last week. The company had revealed via its social network that a bulk of 60,000 Redmi 1s units will go on sale today at 2PM - the most we’ve seen from the company yet. “Yes, 20,000 more! We can’t provide a huge amount of Mi phones for all of you in a short span of time but we do hope you know that we are gradually increasing the numbers,” the company had written in a Facebook post.  The Flipkart page now reads that the registrations window is closed, and the sale begins at 2PM. The Redmi 1s is Xiaomi’s second blockbuster smartphone, following the higher-end  Mi 3 . Just like the Mi 3, it comes with high-end specs at a below-average price tag of Rs 5,999. Following the similar annoying strategy seen during Mi3 flash sale, users will have to register with Flipkart to participate in the sale. Registration doesn’t guarantee a unit and it only means you are eligible to buy one. The company claims to have already received over 1,00,000 registrations, but the window is still open. No wonder, the company is accused of creating more demand than it can supply. The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot that further expands it up to 64GB. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer on top. There’s an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front camera. Compared to smartphones in the similar price range, the Redmi 1S sports a larger and sharper 312 ppi display, thanks to the HD resolution.
