Is it that year already? We just reviewed the JAQ a few weeks ago and while we were waiting for the JAQ3 , i-mate has already launched the JAQ4 here at 3GSM. While not nearly as impressive looking as the Ultimate series, the JAQ should hold the value line for a while.
It’s surprising how similar the JAQ4 looks to the Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 ‘Blackjack’ . The new device runs the new Windows Mobile 6 Professional OS. It has a larger, 2.8-inch, 65k-color QVGA touch-screen display, a seemingly more comfortable full QWERTY keypad, quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE support but still no UMTS, Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP and also WiFi b/g. The 2 megapixel camera is still here, and so is 128MB of ROM, 64MB of RAM. And a microSD slot.
The JAQ4 is expected to be out anytime soon (Q1 2007).
