Futuremark, in a last minute decision, have delayed the release of their benchmarking program 3DMark 11, citing the need to “fix some difficult bugs”. Futuremark President Oliver Baltuch wrote, in a notice to the press, that “it might take a day, it might take a week,” but that the software would be out as soon as possible.
The wait continues…
According to Baltuch, the decision to prioritize a bug-free release over a patch with the aim of 3DMark 11 providing accurate, reliable and consistent results from the start. A follow up to 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 06, 3DMark 11 claims to make full use of DirectX 11 and its features like tessellation, thus allowing users to get a taste of the level of detail and quality that’s to be expected from GPUs in the near future. The software had been available for pre-order in three packages – Basic (Free), Advanced ($19.95) and Professional ($995), and was slated for a November 30 release.
