Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series has always set the pace for the year when it comes to sales. They are easily the most marketed and advertised phones in the months after their launch and this time too, the blitz has been incessant. But this time around, we expected the **2014 flagship Galaxy S5** to be slower getting out of the gates than the Galaxy S4. That’s because the onslaught of low-cost phones, and the average sales prices coming down, have propelled the mid-range category. Secondly, the high-end segment was become saturated due to the slower refresh cycle among users. So it stood to reason that the Galaxy S5 will not be as hot a seller as the S4. But Samsung now says that the Galaxy S5 is the fastest to reach 10 million unit sales in the company’s history. The S5 has reached the 10 million mark in just 25 days of being on sale, according to a report on Korean website Hank Yung. That’s two days faster than the Galaxy S4 from last year. In comparison, the previous generation flagships took much longer to meet this mark. The Galaxy S3 took 50 days, while the number for the Galaxy S2 and the original Galaxy S were 5 months and 7 months respectively. At its current pace, it sure looks like the Galaxy S5 will easily beat the sales of its predecessors the Galaxy S4, which sold over 40 million units and the Galaxy S3, 60 million of which were sold overall.
