Microsoft’s next version of Windows—Windows 8 is due for launch on 26 October. The final preview version of the latest OS is now out for a trial download. Users can download by clicking

The download is available only for 90 days. Users will require a Windows Live account to download the trial version. Microsoft has a lot riding on Windows 8 which is expected to be a significant upgrade to Window 7. The software giant hopes that the launch of Windows 8 tablets and smartphones will help it make some inroads into the market for which it has been a relative late-comer. The version is available for both 32-bit or 64-bit. The 64-bit OS will require at least 2 GB RAM. • Hard disk space: Minimum 16 GB for the 32-bit version. 20 GB for the 64-bit version. • Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver is also required. • For touch features: A tablet or a monitor that supports multitouch is required to use touch-screen features.
