Live: Samsung launches Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Gear smartwatch

11.00 pm Galaxy Gear Watch revealed The Galaxy Gear watch has 1.63 inch with Super AMOLED (320 x 320). It also has a 1.9 Megapixel camera with BSI Sensor, Auto Focus Camera / Sound & Shot. It has an 800 Mhz processor. As far as looks go, the watch looks a bit clunky and certainly not something you are likely to miss. The price is however not so sweet when it comes to the smartwatch. Samsung will launch the watch globally for $299. At the rate at which the rupee is going, the smartwatch won’t come cheap. 10.58 pm Screen Size and other specs 5.7-inch full HD Screen. The Note 3’s screen has a higher pixel density than the Note 2. It also has better multi-window features. Users can keep two ChatOn windows open at the same and drag and drop the same app in two windows. Basically you can run one app in two windows. The crowd is happy. You can also Note 3s to make one big display! 10.55 pm The new S Pen David Park from the marketing team is on stage explaining features of the new S-Pen. S-Pen is now the key that unlocks the phone, handles the battery etc. When you click on the blue dot on the screen and you get access to the Air Command menu which will let you choose from a variety of options. S-Memo for instance let’s you add a new memo and see older memos as well. If you have written a number on the memo you can call it directly from that memo itself. Air Command also has a Scrapbook feature that lets users add content to a particular ‘Scrapbook’ that they’ve created. To add content, just draw a circle on the link that you have opened and then add it to the scrapbook that you prefer. Reminds me of Flipboard’s new Magazine option. S Note: You can now sync it with PCs, computers and Evernote. 10.50 pm Galaxy Note 3 has a different design with leather back finish While the screen is not wider than the Note 2 (it is a bigger screen), the bezel on the side is minimal. Note 3 comes in black, pink and white. Yes Pink or as Samsung says Blush Pink. It has a leather effect back. Not sure if there is real leather on the back. The Note 3 also has bunch of Flip covers with different colours, including one called “oatmeal beige.” 10.45 pm: 25 September is when all devices will hit the markets Get ready to mark that date people if you want to get your hands on the Note 3, Galaxy Gear or the Note 10.1 edition tablet. It’s video time now with Samsung highlighting the history of the Galaxy Note smartphone. 10.42 pm Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear are companion devices, says JK Shin That’s sweet. Oh and Samsung just revealed the Galaxy Note 10. 1 edition tablet as well at the launch. Clearly Samsung doesn’t intend to follow a show one-thing at one time script. 10. 40 pm: Better Stylus and Security in Note 3  The S Pen is better and offers much better multi-tasking. Note 3 runs on Android 4.3, has Samsung Knox for Security. Oh Shin suddenly shows off the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. 10. 31 pm: Samsung President and CEO, JK Shin is now on stage  He’s talking about how Samsung is offering users what they wanted in the phone. ‘Slimmer, lighter, and with a large-screen.’ It also has better battery life, promises Shin. The Note 3 can be seen on the screen now. It looks a lot much more rectangular than the Galaxy Note II. The screen size is definitely bigger. The rear camera is in the middle. 10.30 pm: Samsung’s event has begun in Berlin and it appears to be packed event. Jason Bradbury, a UK-based tech journalist is hosting the event. The crowd is really not responding to his enthusiasm.
