As it happened: Nokia launches Lumia 925 in London, but what's new here?

Shipping and Price:  The device starts shipping in June and is priced at 469 euros before subsidies and taxes. The US, China and Europe launch partners are mentioned. No word on when it will come to India. Jo signs off now but not before mentioning that new Lumia smartphones will be launched in the summer. 2.45 pm: Nokia is showing off its Smart Camera application. Pannenbecker is giving a demonstration of the Nokia Smart Camera app. The features are pretty similar to what we see in S4 and HTC One. Camera Five editing modes of the camera: Best Shot: Let’s you choose the best image from 10 frames. Action Shot: Let’s you add frames to create a multi-exposure image, add a sense of motion to your picture. Motion focus: Motion blur in the background. You can change the various degrees of motion blur here from low to high. Change Faces: Choose difference faces from different frames. Helps you ensure that people looks less weird in pictures. And of course the remove objects option. In short Nokia is catching up to what HTC and Samsung are offering with their flagship smartphones. 2.40 pm: Jo Harlow announces that the Hipstamatic app is coming to Windows Phone 8. This is an iPhone app and not available on Android. This is a camera app which allows users to edit pictures, add filters, follow friends. Kind of like Instagram. Users can share images to Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram as well. Harlow emphasises the Instagram. She know how important that is. Lumia 925 features: 2.35 pm: Nokia has launched the Lumia 925 device. This smartphone has a better camera lens, a new Nokia smart camera application and it has a new metal rim body. The device looks exactly like the leaked devices. In short it seems Nokia has bumped up the camera and the design of the smartphone. “Done in the right way metal can be a really great enabler for beautiful construction,” says Pannenbecker. It has an aluminium frame body. It has a 4.5-inch smartphone, with AMOLED display. The device has a polycarbonate back body. The camera lens is 8.7 megapixels and has Image Optical Stabilisation and Carl Ziess optics and flash. It has wireless charging as well. This reads a lot like the Lumia 928 and Lumia 920. Shouldn’t Nokia tell us what is new here? 2.30 pm: Nokia’s Jo Harlow on stage with Stefan Pannenbecker. They will talk about the new products that Nokia will be launching and the new Lumia smartphone. Jo Harlow is discussing Nokia Lumia 920’s camera. “Optical image stabilization was the break through,” she says. “Our engineers are working to create a much better camera.” Stefan now talking about the specifications of Lumia 928 such as Camera features. The camera can allow users to capture sound with the picture as well. “The Lumia 928 sounds great and it looks great as well,” he says. After launching the Nokia Lumia 928 in the US with Verizon, Nokia is all set to launch its Lumia 925 in London today.
