Lava launches Storm 5G smartphone for under Rs 15,000; Check specs, officers and other details

Lava International has officially launched the Lava Storm 5G in India, unveiling its latest budget smartphone on Thursday, December 21. This domestic offering from Lava boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC and comes in two distinct colour options. The Lava Storm 5G is equipped with a dual rear camera setup, featuring additional highlights such as face unlock, a sizable 5,000mAh battery, 33W fast charging support, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Lava Storm 5G launched: Specs and features In terms of specifications, the dual-SIM (Nano) Lava Storm 5G operates on Android 13, with Lava committing to an upgrade to Android 14 and two years of security updates for the device. The phone boasts a 6.78-inch full-HD+ IPS 2.5D display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a central hole punch cutout housing the selfie shooter. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC and 8GB of RAM, with virtual RAM functionality allowing expansion up to 16GB. The camera setup on the Lava Storm 5G includes a 50MP dual rear camera unit with an LED flash, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. For selfies and video calls, the device sports a 16-megapixel front camera with a screen flash. Storage-wise, it offers 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card. Connectivity options on the Lava Storm 5G encompass 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5, GPRS, OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack, GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports face unlock for authentication. It also includes various sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The smartphone will be accessible through Lava’s e-store as well as the Amazon platform. The smartphone is set to hit the market next week and will be available for purchase through Amazon. The Lava Storm 5G is priced at Rs. 13,499 for the sole variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
