In recent times the question that arises always remains one, what is the ideal size of a mobile phone. In recent times, the sizes of mobile phones have grown steadily larger. The demand for small pocket friendly light-weight mobile tops the table. The wants were met by Apple after the introduction of the iPhone which was slim, thinner and matched the warmth of an ideal size phone.

Former co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs once mocked the big-sized phones. Models like iPhone 13 mini offered a mini screen of about 5.4 inch which was later discontinued. Surveys suggest that customers usually complain about their phone sizes being too big.

This can also be linked to a female’s fashion style. Since the pocket sizes are not so big and on an average 48 per cent and 6.5 per cent narrower than men’s. The paradox arises from the fact that nowadays, people are trying to replace their phone screens with a laptop. With big cameras and larger batteries, phones provide better functionality.

But now likability is meeting innovation, the foldable flip phones offer a partial solution to the problem. Yet the flips do not match the desires of many traditional compact devices.

As production on phones rapidly increases, the alternative push in styling is affecting fashion. As the female pockets are becoming larger and campaigns are held to adapt the change making smaller phones less imperative.

Mobile phones are supposed to be convenient and portable no matter if they are smart phones. But upgrading in time requires more technological efforts. It becomes difficult to stick on the newest chips with big cameras in a mini. The recently launched iPhone 17 is big sized as compared to many introduced in early times. The size of the camera is much larger and covers 3/5th of the phone’s area.

This evolving dynamism and gradual shift in capitalism limits catering to the niche demands possessed by the society. The mass-market drives the functionality and product design that influences the customer’s perspective and the path that companies pursue.
