More and more users are reporting seeing the ‘blue screen of death’ while rebooting their new iPhone 5s devices, which is an error that was typically found on older Windows machines. According to a report on The Verge , “The blue screen reboots appear to be iPhone 5S specific and are largely occurring with Apple’s own iWork apps that come free with all new iOS devices.” Several 5s users on Apple’s support forums say the bug crops up in iOS 7 when they double-tap the iPhone’s Home button to switch from an iWork app. And as this user video shows, multi-tasking seems to be triggering the reboot:

MacWorld in a snarky comment , says that while it may be a blue screen of death at least it’s classy. “True to Apple form, it is a rather clean and simple blue screen, a far cry from the cluttered Windows error messages of yesteryear”. According to one, exiting back to documents before hitting the home button will prevent the reboot, while other have recommended more extreme measures like “Turn pages, numbers and keynote off from iCloud’s documents and data.” This however is not as viable an option if you have multiple devices using iOS7 and iCloud. Meanwhile a new report from AllThingsD quotes a site called Crittercism as saying that programs crash about two percent on the iPhone 5s, as compared to just under one percent on both the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5.
