In a bid to expand the Copilot+ ecosystem, Intel has announced the imminent arrival of its Lunar Lake chips, which are set to redefine the landscape of AI-powered computing. As PC makers embrace the Copilot+ initiative, Intel’s Lunar Lake chips promise groundbreaking AI performance and enhanced user experiences.

Breaking the silence on Monday’s Copilot+ PC rollout, which has been dominated by Qualcomm so far, Intel has reassured consumers of its imminent Lunar Lake chips, scheduled for a Q3 2024 debut. Representing a significant leap in AI capabilities, Lunar Lake chips will support all Copilot+ AI features, ushering in a new era of intelligent computing.

With more than 80 new laptops slated for release by over 20 hardware partners, Intel aims to inject the holiday season with a dose of Copilot+ magic. These PCs, equipped with Lunar Lake chips, will seamlessly integrate new Copilot+ features like Recall and Cocreator via software updates, promising enhanced productivity and creativity for users.

With an ambitious target of shipping over 40 million AI PC chips this year, Intel is poised to revolutionize the computing landscape. In comparison, Microsoft expects to sell about 50 million Copilot+ PCs by the end of the year.

Lunar Lake is set to triple the AI performance of its predecessors, the Meteor Lake XPUs, and boasts over 40 trillion Neural Processing Unit (NPU) operations per second (TOPS), thereby paving the way for unparalleled AI experiences.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Client Computing Group, lauded Lunar Lake’s breakthrough power efficiency and compatibility with x86 architecture. With Lunar Lake and Copilot+, Intel aims to deliver the most competitive hardware and software offerings in its history, promising a seamless fusion of innovation and performance.
