The meeting, which took place at the minister’s office, saw the participation of key figures from Vedanta and Innolux. YJ Chen, CEO of Vedanta Displays Ltd; Sunil Duggal, Strategy & Policy Chairman; James Yang, President; and Jyh Chau Wang, Director of Innolux, were present. During the meeting, they engaged in discussions regarding India’s vision and goals in domestic display manufacturing, all with the objective of achieving self-reliance in electronics manufacturing, as stated by the minister in a social media post. A spokesperson representing Vedanta’s semiconductor and display business has confirmed that these discussions are indeed underway for the establishment of a display fabrication facility, as per a report by PTI The spokesperson emphasized Vedanta’s commitment to supporting the government’s vision of a self-reliant India and their dedicated efforts toward creating a display fab to facilitate self-sufficiency in high-tech electronics manufacturing. This move by Vedanta aligns with their prior announcements of plans to set up electronic chip and display manufacturing facilities in India. Furthermore, the company has entered into a joint venture with Foxconn, a prominent Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, which previously revealed intentions to invest a substantial $19.5 billion in the establishment of a semiconductor wafer fabrication plant in the country.
