Select the Restart option on the bottom-right corner of the window. ― The ghost window will disappear temporarily. It will appear once more after the restart process is over. Note: If you are unable to view the Windows Explorer option in the Task Manager, it means that some Explorer windows are still open. Close them before you reattempt the process. Permanent fix: To prevent the ghost window permanently, here is the step-by-step process: ― Go to the Taskbar settings after you right-click the Taskbar. ― Expand the Taskbar items and click the Search toggle to switch it to the off position. ― Since the Search Window widget is turned off, the ghost box issue will disappear permanently.
