Is it possible for one Samsung phone to burn down an entire house? According to reports emerging from Chinese media, that is exactly what has happened. Apparently, a flaming Samsung Galaxy S4 torched the entire house of one man (known only as Du) in Hong Kong. According to the
Chinese report
on Xianguo (which has been translated and cited by the
Huffington Post
), Du was playing a game called ‘Love Machine’ when he heard a loud ‘pop’ from the phone’ s battery. While Du reacted quickly, throwing the phone onto a nearby sofa, the flames from the phone eventually burnt his entire house down. Du and his wife were able to escape unharmed. This isn’t the first report to emerge about Samsung phones causing fires and resultant damage. Earlier this month, there was a report of an 18-year-old Swiss woman who sustained third degree burns after her Samsung Galaxy S III exploded in her pocket. The case of the Swiss girl’s exploding phone was
attributed to the fact
that she was using a cheaper replacement battery at the time. [caption id=“attachment_997517” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

retracted his statement
, saying that the fire had been caused by another person who had been trying to fix the phone from water damage. According to the HuffingtonPost report, Du has said that his phone, charger and battery were all authentic Samsung products. Samsung Hong Kong said it is looking into the matter.
