Google's Chromebooks coming to India from 17 October

Chromebooks, the laptops by Google which run on the company’s Chrome OS are going to hit the Indian market soon. According to a press statement by the company Google Chromebooks by HP and Acer will be available in India from 17 October. The Acer C720 Chromebook has an 11.6-inch screen with 1366x768 display resolution, four hours of battery life, dual-core Intel Celeron processor and 16GB SSD storage (faster that traditional HDD storage space). It comes with 100 GB of free Google Drive Storage for 2 years. The Chromebook also supports Wi-Fi 802.11, has an Ethernet, an HD Camera, 3 USB 2.0 port,s 1 HDMI Port, 1 VGA port and 2-in-1 memory card slot (SD, MMC). The Acer Chromebook is also only 1 inch thin and weighs 1.4 kg [caption id=“attachment_1164269” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] HP Chromebook 14 and Acer Chromebook in this product photo.[/caption] The Chromebook 14 has a bigger 14-inch screen, and in terms of battery, Google is promising up to 9.5 hours of life. It has an Intel processor which Google has not specified, 100 GB Google Drive Cloud Storage for two years, with 16GB Solid State Drive. It also has a HD webcam. The HP Chromebook also supports Wi-Fi but doesn’t have a Ethernet slot. It has two USB 3.0 slots, and 1 USB 2.0 slot. It has a full size HDMI Port and supports Bluetooth 4.0. Chromebooks have all the traditional Google apps such Gmail, YouTube and Google+ built-in, so its great if your life centres around Google and you are always surfing the web. The computers also come with Google Docs and Offline Gmail, which should be convenient when your Internet connection starts breaking down. Google has also partnered with Tikona and Airtel to provide cellular and broadband offers. The Acer C720 Chromebook is priced Rs 22,999 and the HP Chromebook 14 is priced Rs 26,990. They will be available from select Reliance Digital and Croma stores in Delhi and Mumbai from 17 October. Users can also place pre-order for the device from Flipkart, starting today.
