Google on Sunday unveiled a special doodle to mark India’s 76th Republic Day. The doodle celebrates India’s rich diversity and national pride. According to the popular search engine, the colourful art was designed by Pune-based artist Rohan Dahotre. The doodle features a series of animals which represent different regions of India, representing a “wildlife parade”.
Among the highlights are a snow leopard dressed in traditional Ladakhi attire, a tiger sporting a dhoti-kurta while playing a musical instrument, a peacock in flight, and an antelope carrying a ceremonial staff. As per the Google website, the doodle captures the essence of Republic Day, an occasion that brings the country together in the “spirit of pride and celebration”.
“Republic Day holds great significance for India, as it unites people across the nation and ignites a sense of patriotism in every Indian,” Dahotre said while reflecting on the significance of this day. “As a wildlife illustrator, I also considered incorporating animals dressed in traditional human attire, an idea that was met with enthusiasm. Drawing wildlife is one of my core strengths, and I was eager to bring this unique approach to the project, showcasing my expertise while contributing something fresh and memorable,” he added.
Republic Day Parade: A celebration of cultural diversity and military prowess
The parade is expected to be a grand showcase of the country’s unique cultural diversity, unity and military prowess. According to the ANI, around 10,000 Special Guests have been invited to witness the parade. The motto of “Jan Bhagidari” will be the highlight of this year’s grand celebrations.
For the first time in the country’s history, a tri-services tableau will show the spirit of jointness and integration between the Indian armed forces. According to the Indian Defence Ministry, the theme of that tableau will be “Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat”. The tableau is expected to depict a Joint Operation Room facilitating networking and communication between the three wings of the Indian military.
The parade will commence at 10:30 am and will last for 90 minutes. The prime minister will first visit the National War Memorial, where he will lead the nation in paying tribute to the fallen heroes by laying wreaths.
