HP is not a big name when it comes to gaming, but it seems the company wants to change the perception. Not long ago, it launched the Omen gaming laptop series and now it has unveiled the Omen X gaming desktop.

The highlight of the machine is its unique non-standard, cube shaped cabinet. It features a three-chamber structure for keeping hot components separate as well as for making room for expansion for things like dual graphics cards, four hard drive bays and an M.2 SSD. The case follows the Omen colour scheme of black and red along with related logos. HP will sell you the barebones case if you prefer building your own PC.

The Omen X comes with a starting price of $1,799 (Rs 1,19,000 approx) for which HP will throw in an overclockable 4GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, Radeon RX 480 graphics, a 256GB SSD, a 2TB hard drive and a 1,300W power supply (Overkill in a config like this). A higher config including a GeForce GTX 1080 or 16GB of RAM can take the price to about $2,100 (Rs 1,39,000 approx). The casing itself costs $600 (Rs 40,000 approx) which is just ludicrous even for an easy access PC tower.

HP is also bringing an updated Omen 17 laptop which will pack Nvidia’s GTX 1060M or GTX 1070M, supporting VR and dual external screens. There’s also an Omen X Curved Display with support for Nvidia’s extra-smooth G-Sync tech which is due early 2017.
