Am I the only one who’s more excited for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster than the upcoming Infinite Warfare?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is, for me, the seminal Call of Duty game. As far as I’m concerned, this is the game that defined the FPS genre and I don’t think there’s been anything like it since. There have been variations on the formula, sure, but Modern Warfare? It stands alone.
Part of the game’s charm lay in its tight combat and gripping atmosphere. I still remember the oohs and aahs that escaped me when I first saw the IR lasers in the ‘Blackout’ mission. It sent chills up my spine. And do I even need to mention ‘All ghillied up’? A sniper’s romp through abandoned Chernobyl could hardly have been more atmospheric.
If anything, the multiplayer was even more fun. In fact, you’ll still find active servers for this 9-year-old game!
The multiplayer trailer for the game just came out and I’m happy to report that it looks as spectacular as I expected it to look. Check it out below:
As it stands right now, the remaster will only be available to those who purchase the ‘Legacy’ and ‘Digital Deluxe’ editions of Infinite Warfare.
I don’t feel like dropping $60 (around Rs 4,000) on Infinite Warfare though; I already know I won’t be playing it.
I just hope Activision sees sense and releases the remaster as a stand-alone copy at a later date. I’ve waited 9 years, what difference is a few more going to make?
