The event brings together fans from all over the world with tournaments, keynotes, panel discussions and, the highlight of the show, BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer). id Software have been around since the very birth of PC gaming, and maybe even before that. Their earliest titles completely revolutionised the PC gaming industry. Games like Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake were unlike any before them.
Doom was the first game to popularise deathmatching and Quake 3, well, it’s quite simply the very best arena-style deathmatch title out there. All you Unreal Tournament fans can take your grievances to this site.
QuakeCon is a celebration of all of this and more. You may not realise it, but Zenimax Media is quite a large company of which id Software is only a subsidiary. The company includes Arkane Studios, BattleCry Studios, Bethesda Softworks and more. By extension, they command franchises like Dishonored, Elder Scrolls, Doom and Quake. As expected, the events do spill over to Zenimax Media's other properties as well
The organisers are expecting 7,000 BYOC participants and many more visitors. The event schedule includes a panel on Doom and idTech 6, a discussion on bringing game worlds to life, speedruns and more.
Doom will, of course, be the star of the show and one can expect to interact with id Software’s key members, participate in SnapMap workshops and more. One can also expect Quake Live tournaments, Doom deathmatches and the like. Fallout Shelter, Elder Scrolls Legends and sneak peeks at other upcoming games.
The fun doesn’t end there. In anticipation of QuakeCon, most Bethesda and id games are available at massive discounts.
