"Ahoy there, Minion! It is I, CL4P-TP, your wise leader. Don't look so depressed, I'll be joining you soon for a new Borderlands game is in the works. Read on and rejoice!"
Chief minion and Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford confirmed today, at PAX East 2016, that a Borderlands sequel was in the works. Adding that they hadn't even decided on a title yet, he revealed that Scott Kester, art director for Borderlands 2 and Battleborn, will be joining the Borderlands 3 team as art director.
Also joining the team is Mikey Neumanm, the guy who wrote the stories behind Brothers in Arms and the original Borderlands. With regards to the story, details are very scarce. Gamespot cited Randy as saying, "Everyone dies horribly," jokingly of course. Other hints indicate that we might be seeing a few cross-over characters from Tales from the Borderlands, most notably, Scooper, Scooter's son.
This will be the 4th Borderlands game in a very popular franchise will hopefully make up for some of the Pre-Sequel's (yes, that's its actual name) shortcomings.
Pitchford also added that an upcoming DLC for Gearbox Software's Battleborn will feature a number of easter eggs related to Borderlands 3. He says that you'll need to "look deeply" for said easter eggs.
Borderlands 3 was announced on January 2016. There is no word on a release date.
