On guard, gamer! For Honor, that tactical combat game from Ubisoft that pits knights against Vikings against Samurai is starting its closed beta today.
As part of the closed beta, Ubisoft has announced that testers will get to try the War of the Factions event, which will place the aforementioned warriors on a battlefield in a fight to the death.
The beta will run from 26 January (9PM India time) to 29 January. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to register for the closed beta here. Since this is a closed beta, be warned that there won’t be as many slots open to the public. You’ll be lucky indeed to get access to the beta if you register right now.
In the closed beta, players will be able to choose 9 of the 12 heroes that will make it to the final game. Obviously, each hero gets a unique play style, weapons and armour kit. Players will also get to check out maps and three different game modes.
We got a chance to try a pre-release version of the game and we must say, the combat was quite compelling. Weapons and movement certainly felt like they had a lot of weight behind them, making the combat that much more pleasurable. The combat system is also well fleshed out and there is more depth to it than just spamming buttons.
That said, even in the preview it was quite clear that this game is no Dark Souls, however.
The game is available on PC and console and will release for all platforms on 14 February.
