E3 2017: Developer teases exciting new mission for 'Call of Duty: WW2' just weeks before gaming expo

Call of Duty: WW2 is set to be one of the biggest games of the year and this year's E3 event has hyped up the expectations from the game.

E3 is less than a fortnight away and Sledgehammer Games has already started to hype the Call of Duty: World War 2 gameplay and multiplayer footage. Fans were recently treated to the game’s official trailer and it has made them more desperate to see a walk-through of one of the missions.

Fans are hoping popular missions from the earlier Call of Duty franchise may return in the game, such as the Normandy Beach invasion, the Battle of the Bulge and moments with Allied troops in Paris. However, what has really grabbed eyeballs is a comment in an interview of Sledgehammer CEO Glen Schofield along with fellow co-founder Michael Condrey on behalf of Gamestop TV.

Glen has revealed that the game will feature missions connected to Operation Cobra, which was the largest aerial bombardment in human history, where approximately 3,000 United States aircraft dropped bombs on the Nazi troops seven weeks after the D-Day invasion.

Details have also emerged that this time, Call of Duty will have a Zombie mode reintroduced. Also, Call of Duty: WW2 will focus exclusively on the Allied powers and the game won't feature the Nazis, which means that you'll never be able to play as them.

However, the multiplayer will feature a new social space for players, as well as revamped character creator tools and a narrative-driven Axis vs Allies team mode.

While E3 2017 will revolve around the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Call of Duty: WW2, there are rumours that a Nintendo Switch port will be announced at the event. The Call of Duty: WW2 story mode will follow Private Daniels as he fights through France, Belgium and other prominent locations from the Second World War.
