E3 2016: Expect an in-depth look at Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's campaign at E3

Activision has backed out from E3 this year, but that doesn’t meant that we won’t be seeing any news from the developer of the polarizing Call of Duty franchise.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the latest entrant in the Call of Duty franchise will be showcased at E3, but most probably as part of Sony’s media briefing at the expo. This is understandable when you consider that Sony and Activision recently entered into an exclusive partnership agreement, giving PS4 users timed exclusives in the form of DLC.

Taking to their official Call of Duty channel, Activision promised users an in-depth look at Infinite Warfare’s campaign on June 13 at E3. What we know so far of the campaign is that players will be put in the shoes of Captain Reyes, who commands the Retribution, one of Earth’s last remaining warships (space warship?) as he rallies the remainder of the allies in a war spanning the solar system. The Retribution itself and the Jackal (a space fighter) will be two pilotable craft. It’s not very clear yet, but the player might have to upgrade and maintain the Retribution on a regular basis, a la Mass Effect 2. Overproduction and overpopulation have apparently stripped the Earth of all resources, leaving it dependent on mining operations in space. Militants and radicals, possibly from The Settlement Defense Front attempt to take command of all these outposts, leaving the Earth vulnerable. You don’t play Call of Duty for the plot, but Infinite Warfare’s plot is interesting enough to be worth mentioning. Lest we forget, there will also be the now obligatory zombie mode, but maybe in space this time. June 13? We’re waiting.
