Bethesda’s E3 media briefing just wound up and some intrepid viewer caught on to the fact that they had quietly hinted at a new game at the start of the conference.
The conference started up with a DOS-style bootup sequence that listed all of Bethesda’s current and known upcoming games. In that list was an entry, Super_Colossus, that didn’t have a release date. The games in the list were listed by franchise, leading us and everyone else on the internet to believe that the game does indeed belong to the Wolfenstein franchise.
Since the time Bethesda took over the reigns at id Software , id’s cult classics have been receiving worthy reboots. The Doom reboot was glorious, the Wolfenstein reboot was epic and its sequel , even better. Now, we seem to be expecting yet another Wolfenstein trilogy.
Going by Bethesda’s record so far, we’re glad they’re the ones working on these franchises.
The original Wolfenstein was set in castle Wolfenstein and you made your way through droves of Nazis (and dogs), before finally taking on a dual-minigun-wielding Hitler. The sequels were alright as far as sequels went, however. It wasn’t until Bethesda bought out id Software and released Wolfenstein: The New Order that we were presented with a truly modern take on a classic shooter.
