Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered edition might be in the works

A remastered edition of Call of Duty's best game might be in the works.

Call of Duty, a game that's polarised gamers and the games industry with its rinse-and-repeat formula that includes set-pieces, boring dialogue, over-the-top patriotism, great multiplayer and a hit-and-miss single-player campaign.

Gamers and industry veterans love and hate the franchise in equal measure and where you stand on the matter is your business. The game that kicked all this off however, was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (CoD4). The game came about at a very interesting time in gaming history and heralded the transition to 4-hour single-player campaigns.

Many gamers consider CoD4 to be the high point in the franchise (personally, I prefer United Offensive) and despite the release of 7 games since Modern Warfare, the game's multiplayer community is still alive and kicking. We know that Activision, CoD's developers, have been working on CoD: Infinite Warfare for a while now. What we didn't expect was a leak on Reddit (claimed to be from a Target store), indicating that a remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is in the works.

The image shows a box for an Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition that seems to bundle a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered Edition as well. We don't know if that remaster is only for Xbox One and if the PC will see some love in the form of a remastered classic, but we are very excited indeed.

Infinite Warfare? Who cares? Modern Warfare is the one we really want!
