Bethesda may wait till 2017 to announce Elder Scrolls VI

Fans waiting for some news of the next version in the immensely popular fantasy role playing open world titles Elder Scrolls might be in for a disappointment. Analysis of release dates of previous titles point to a 2019 release, with an announcement in the 2017 E3. According to analysts who churned the data for Yibida, the titles in the Elder Scrolls series release in a four year window after the previous release. Looking at recent titles, it is possible to make out what the analysts are getting at. The titles before Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind do not fit into the pattern at all. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind released in 2002. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released four years after that, in 2006. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim showed up a year after the four year gap, in 2011 instead of 2010. The next title, Elder Scrolls Online, caught up to the missed year in the schedule, with a 2014 release. Which leaves Elder Scrolls VI for a release date in 2019. This is not counting Elder Scrolls Legends which is a collectible card game for mobile platforms. Bethesda is one of the studios that has tunnel vision when it comes to developing current titles. It ignores all its other intellectual properties, to favor the one that is most recently released and being updated. The focus at Bethesda is very much on the Fallout 4 downloadable content as of now. Elder Scrolls VI will be a continuation of where Skyrim V left off. Bethesda is apparently calling the title Skyrim 2.
