5 best horrible games to virtually kill Ravana this Dussehra

What better way to observe the day that Ram emerged victorious against Ravana by killing Ravana repeatedly from the comfort of your home. Unfortunately, due to a lack of quality local content , there are not too many well crafted games available. However, it is Dussehra, and Ravana must die. A virtual representation of the demon exists in these games with horrible controls, and if you want to take a break from the celebrations, then we have just the thing to torture yourself with. The games are rated with Ravana heads, so more is worse. 5. Ram: The Yodha  ![ram-the-yodha](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/ram-the-yodha.jpg) Ram: The Yodha is a dual stick shooter. The left control is for movement, and the right control is for firing the arrows. The good thing about Ram: The Yodha is that it is one of the better apps in the list, which is not saying much. The bad news is that you have to work your way through 8 levels before meeting the final boss, which is Ravana. You can choose between Ram or Laxman at the start of the game. The 8 levels have different backgrounds, which somewhat approximate the journey that Ram took to Lanka. ![Screenshot_20161011-115554](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-115554.jpg) The game has a long-ish list of gameplay mechanics. You can fire arrows at boxes that drop loot, usually in the form of more arrows. The arrows have various super powers, including ones that explode. Hanuman Ji can be called in for air support, if you have picked up Hanuman’s mace. Health can be replenished with the consumption of Sanjeevani Bhooti. The movement controller is very small, and you have to make sure your finger is within the bounds for it to work, or else it will appear as if the app is not working. Rating:

rating-5

4. Ravan Archery ![Screenshot_20161011-115922](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-115922.jpg) This game puts you straight into the action. There is no figure for Ram, but Ravana is showed in a costume that is vaguely reminiscent of Spiderman. The main gameplay mechanic is that every time you destroy a head, Ravana grows back the previous one and another head appears. Ravan’s heads are disembodied from his body, and hover around his body. Some of them roam so far afield that they ended up representing the ratings in this article. If you kill one head, two heads appear. At least that is what the game says in the description, but the only thing that appeared when we destroyed the first Ravana head was an advertisement for UC Browser. ![Screenshot_20161011-115944](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-115944.jpg) The challenge is to make the ad disappear by finding the hard to locate close button. Once that is done, the next head of Ravana appears. Fortunately, this game does require some level of skill to aim and shoot the arrows on time to hit the Ravana heads. You get points for accurately aiming at the head. It is possible to run out of arrows and lose the game, so you have to be economical with the ammunition. The game allows you to continue from where you left off, or “Play From Begin.” Rating:

rating-7

3. Vijay Dashami ![Screenshot_20161011-135453](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-135453.jpg) This app has graphics that can make your eyes give up and implode. The marketing team seems to have picked up a trick or two from Apple, and calls itself the “The World’s #1 Festive Archery game.” There are even seven stages in the game. In the game you play as Ram. The controls are very simple and imprecise. You can make Ram start swinging his bow up and down, or stop. During the course of these swings, you have to fire an arrow at a balloon that appears in different places on Ravan’s body. Ravana is a bunch of pixels representing an effigy that in turn is a symbolic representation of Ravan. Yes, this game suffers from Ravanception. ![Screenshot_20161011-135549](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-135549.jpg) Every time you hit the balloon, Ravana goes up in cheap cgi flames, that go on for a while. This game does fall under the instant gratification Ravana killing category. After the lengthy animation is finished, the Ravana effigy moves further away, and you are challenged to aim better. At the final stage, Ravana is pretty far away, and there is a log in between, and there is actually a wormhole or a portal that you have to aim at to get the arrow to Ravan. If the app gets closed, you have to start over from stage I. Rating:

rating-8

2. Ravan Mukti ![Screenshot_20161011-135217](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-135217.jpg) Similar to Ravan Archery, Ravan Mukti also has a unique interpretation of how Ravana’s heads work. Ravana has an unlimited number of heads, and they keep falling. Ram has to keep killing the heads before they float down from the skies and attach themselves to Ravana’s head. This gameplay mechanic can be interpreted as an analogy to the eternal fight of good vs evil. That is, if the good side has no way to win the game. ![Screenshot_20161011-135339](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-135339.jpg) Eventually, all the heads are going to attach themselves to Ravan’s shoulders, and you lose the game. However, what makes the game fun is the simple strategy of aiming at the same place every time. You can delay the formation of all ten of Ravan’s heads by using this single simple trick. Every time Ravana gets a head, the next set of heads start falling from the sky in exactly the same place. Rating:

rating-7

1. Ram Vs Ravan ![Screenshot_20161011-131739](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screenshot_20161011-131739.jpg) This is by far the best made game in the list. Ram Vs Ravana is a sidescrolling action platformer with beautiful visuals and really frustrating controls. This is also a pretty long game, but Ravana is a boss you have to contend with right from the start of the game. The battle is long and continuous, with help received from various mysterious characters on the way.  Ram actually gets a sword and a bow after the first stage, from a sage in the forest that Ravana cant rain fire down on from his battle equipped Pushpak Viman. There are a whole bunch of really cool monsters, some that appear to be mash ups between sages and white walkers, and this thing that looks like a Balrog. ![ravan-mukti-1](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/ravan-mukti-1.jpg) This game is kind of like the classic Prince of Persia, but could have gone a long way with better controls. The Puzzles are vexing enough to require some figuring out. The bigger challenge is to get the timing right on all the jumps, something that requires you to go a long way back and start over if you get it wrong. Be ready for some serious out of the box thinking for solving the puzzles. The camera does not follow Ram around the screen too accurately, so the main protagonist disappears along the edges at times. According to us, that honour of being the “The World’s #1 Festive Archery game.” goes to Ram Vs Ravan. Rating:

ratingf-3

A game that appears to at least visually approximate a console experience is Ramayana 3D: 7th Avatar by Gamelon. Did we miss any game out? Are there better or worse games out there? Please do let us know in the comments section below.
