Volkswagen has launched the new generation of its Passat sedan in India for a price of Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This Passat model was first unveiled 3 years ago at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and is the 8th generation of the car according to the Financial Express. new Passat is based on the same MQB Platform as the
**Tiguan** and the Skoda Superb. The car will be sold in two variants called Comfort line and High line which will be priced at Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 32.99 lakh respectively. The car has 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine giving out 177 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque which is paired alongside a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission. The car is not, however, offered in a hybrid variant which was earlier showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. There are additional features of park assist for hands-free parking, hill assist, auto hold and 9 airbags. The car has full LED headlamps and LED tail lamps alongside Dynamic chassis control. The interiors of the car has leather upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a Panoramic Sunroof. The car weighs about 70 kgs less than the 7th generation Passat. The Passat is available in six colours option of Black oak brown metallic, Oryx white, Atlantic blue metallic, Deep Black Pearl Effect, Brit silver metallic and Mangan Grey metallic.
