TVS Apache RR 310 launched in India with 313 cc liquid and oil-cooled engine at Rs 2.05 lakh

**TVS Motor Company** on Wednesday launched the **TVS Apache RR 310** at a price of Rs 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The TVS Apache RR 310 is the most important launch for TVS as it is their largest capacity offering so far, at 313cc, and also their first motorcycle to come out of the TVS-BMW Motorrad collaboration, which has also led to the production of the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS. Positioned as a premium sportsbike, the Apache RR 310 is expected to take on the **KTM RC 390** as also twin-cylinder engined sportsbikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the **Yamaha YZF-R3**, but undercuts all their prices by a fair margin. The TVS Apache RR 310 uses the same 313cc, liquid and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine as the BMW G 310 R that is mounted inclined towards the rear, a first for any motorcycle in India. Its outputs are identical too, at 34PS and 27.5Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. We have ridden the Apache RR 310 at the Madras Motor Race Track and came away impressed. Deliveries of the Apache RR 310 will begin on Christmas from at least 40 dealerships across India. The TVS Apache RR 310 is born out of the TVS Racing heritage of 35 years and also bears decals to signify the same. TVS Motor Company says the Apache RR 310 has been wind tunnel tested extensively and boasts class-leading aerodynamics. The company claims the 310 offers best in class co-efficient of drag (Cd) of 0.26. The 313cc liquid-cooled motor propels the Apache RR 310 from zero to 60kmph in a quick 2.93 seconds, and onwards to a 160kmph top speed. The TVS Apache RR 310 also shares the trellis frame with its BMW counterpart but has a redesigned rear sub-frame for a more track-friendly stance. To help with prolonged use, the RR 310 has a gill profile to aid thermal management. Handling suspension duties are KYB race-tuned upside down forks up front finished in gold, with a monotube floating monoshock at the rear. The TVS Apache flagship’s design is inspired by a shark, which was also why the concept was named the Akula - Russian for a shark. It blends aggressive styling with a compact layout and longer swingarm for manoeuvrability. At the front, the bi-LED projector lamps are unique in that both stay on at all times, unlike the typical way of the only lamp in a twin headlamp setup staying on for low beam.
