2018 Triumph Speed Triple unveiled with updated engine, new TFT display and more

**Triumph**  Motorcycles has unveiled the 2018 version of the Speed Triple S and Speed Triple RS. Triumph Motorcycles[/caption] The updated 1,050 cc **Speed Triple** engine produces 150 PS at 10,500 rpm and 117 Nm at 7,150 rpm of torque, with an improvement of seven percent and four percent from the previous versions. New parts in the engine are a redesigned crankshaft, new Nikasil-plated aluminium cylinder liners, new pistons and a freer-flowing cylinder head. The company has also brought smaller starter motor, new profile pistons, redesigned cylinder heads, and a new sump with a re-routed oil system to reduce the weight and improve the performance of the Speed Triple RS. Triumph Motorcycles[/caption] A new introduction that will make the bike more fancier is the five-inch TFT display. Instead of the conventional display the company has introduced the new screen for an improved experience on both the bikes. The Speed Triple S is the base model, while the RS is the higher-priced variant with few differences including Öhlins suspension in place of the Showa on the Speed Triple S. Triumph Motorcycles[/caption] The bikes now rev higher by 1,000 rpm than the past models and the Speed Triple brings five riding modes, cruise control, standard-fit ABS and traction control. There’s a 6-speed transmission which gets a slip-assist clutch and fully-adjustable suspension. Triumph has also introduced back-lit 5-way joystick switch cubes. The key-less technology which is only available on the RS allows the users to automatically turn on the ignition and steering lock based on your distance. It can also be disabled if not required. Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires and twin front disc brake with Brembo Monobloc calipers has been introduced on both the bikes.

Other features on these bikes are improved gearbox, high-gloss cast alloy wheels, switchable ABS and traction control, a USB charging point, fully adjustable upside down forks by Showa and mono-shock by  RSU, twin spar aluminium frame, aluminium bar end mirrors and more.
